A joyful sailing story of a mother and her son; a very endearing story, parts of which are very moving and well written. This book is well suited to those wanting to sail The Mediterranean, go through France by boat, UK waters, or cross the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Also a good account of dealing with the various troubles of sailing a small wooden boat across the world's oceans and seas. Wooden boat enthusiasts and solo sailors would find much to interest them and those who have never sailed would be encouraged to so because it is mostly tales of adventure. A very unique and interesting story told from different perspectives which makes the story even more enjoyable. As a cruiser i don't really read often cruisers books but i had the pleasure of meeting the author and found him to be a very interesting person as it is the book. I truly reccomend it to anyone as it it is a true and fascinating adventure.
This was a bit daunting at first....small type and many pages....but I found it to be enjoyable and could live vicariously through the many experiences of the author and his mother. At times there was a bit too much detail about the various issues associated with sailing (I have no knowledge of sailing whatsoever!), but the other detail about places they visited and things they did outweighed this minor issue.
